The Anderson Fair Project is an initiative of Ghost
Ranch Films in Houston to produce a feature-length documentary
film titled For The Sake Of The Song: The Story of Anderson
Fair. The film will document and preserve an important
component of America's musical legacy, Houston's legendary
folk and acoustic music venue, Anderson Fair Retail Restaurant.
For
The Sake Of The Song is the story of a cultural treasure
and the significant role it has played in preserving
an American musical tradition. For nearly forty years,
Anderson Fair has fostered and nurtured some of the most
important musical performers and writers in the country
including Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriters Nanci
Griffith, Lyle Lovett and Lucinda Williams. This film
will tell the compelling saga of a unique musical institution,
its struggle to survive, and the family of devoted volunteers,
patrons and artists who have contributed to the longevity
of one of the oldest folk and acoustic music venues in
continuous operation in the United States. |
